On With The Point

So like all Houstonians (I say all even though it was over 42,000 in the stands), I went to the game in excitement over seeing my first ever championship banner raising. For 27 years, I had dreamed of seeing a moment like this. I couldn’t wait for everything to go down. I pictured how it was going to happen and I was for sure certain nothing would ruin this day.

But as I was waiting, I looked up into the crowd and the first thing I noticed was the wind blowing on the drape covering the banners. My main focus was on the pennant to the left tower under the lights, which was the 2005 NLCS banner. The wind was blowing a bit and you could see parts of the banner. My worry was that the wind would blow it off before the ceremony started.

Fortunately, that didn’t happen and the ceremony got underway. Seeing Jim Crane and his wife with the trophy riding on the Clydesdale horses along with a giant banner from fans to hearing Jeff Luhnow’s speech and the introduction of the players was awesome. It was also cool to see Colby Rasmus back in Houston even as an Oriole.
