New Orleans Pelicans

Season series: 3-1 Houston Rockets

The Rockets and Pelicans have had some competitive games this season, including the Rockets’ only loss in their last 30 games. Yet, that game was the final game of DeMarcus Cousins’ season. He ruptured his Achilles in the final ten seconds of the Pelicans two point victory. Houston won the other three matchups, including the most recent one in blowout fashion.

No one wants to deal with Anthony Davis. He is a nightmare matchup for any team. A series against the Brow would be for Capela, Nene, PJ Tucker or anyone else thrown in there. But, outside of him, New Orleans is fairly limited in it’s attack. Jrue Holiday is having a solid year, but that’s pretty much the extent of the Pelicans’ weaponry.

New Orleans neither excels nor slumps at anything in particular. They are 11th in the league in offensive rating, 15th defensively, 14th in overall net rating. Some gaudy stats from Davis could extend the series, the Rockets would rightfully be heavy favorites. Overall, they’re an average potential matchup for Houston.
