With only a few more weeks of the regular season the Houston Rockets seem in a good position to claim the number one seed for the first time ever. Regardless of how the season ends for the Rockets it will go down as one of the great seasons. Where will it land among the past seasons?

Last Friday, March 16, the Houston Rockets were off. The day before they had beaten the Los Angeles Clippers. The next day they beat the New Orleans Pelicans. It was their 21st win out of the past 22 games. Since then they have beaten Minnesota for their 22nd win out of the last 23.

Think about this — 10 years ago, the Rockets won their 22nd game in a row. At the time, that stood as the second-longest winning streak in NBA history (The 2012-13 Miami Heat won 27 in a row to pass it).

The 22-game streak remains the longest in Rockets history but the way the 2007-08 season ended with a loss to Utah in the first round took some of the luster away from that season when compared to other years in Rockets history.

What makes a great season?

Unfortunately, the answer to this question is subjective. Some would say a great season is a winning season with a trip at least to the second round. For the purpose of this piece a great Rockets season ends with them winning at least 50 games (A common demarcation separating good teams from great teams) and/or playing into the middle of May or later. So without further ado, here are a recap of some of the great Houston Rockets’ seasons.
