Repetitiveness eventually gets boring.  Everything needs a little bit of change every once in a while, the NBA is no different and none is the exception with the Houston Rockets. With the threat of a fourth consecutive finals match up between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, there is finally a legitimate chance of seeing something different.  Here’s why.

Houston Rockets fans — the NBA has been in a state of dominance by two teams these last few years. That has been okay, as long as it was new and fresh but that is no longer the case. Luckily for basketball fans, there’s a new team to cheer for, that team is the Houston Rockets.

The last three years have been a back and forth between this era’s greatest player, LeBron James, and the greatest team, the Golden State Warriors. The three finals featuring the two have been entertaining, intense and apart from last year, very competitive.

But the fact that the rest of the league has been unable to put up any kind of resistance has made watching the seasons pretty much pointless. There hasn’t been a realistic threat to this duopoly in years.

That is until now.

The Houston Rockets have finally added another true championship contender into the mix. Not only are they going into the All-Star break with the best record in the league, they have arguably been the best team so far.

In James Harden and Chris Paul, the Rockets have the luxury of two Hall of Fame point guards

running their offense at all times. With the array of three point marksmen on the court, these two have been putting on a show. Their driving, dishing and efficient shooting have dazzled fans with as entertaining basketball as you’ll see anywhere in the world.

Coach Mike D’Antoni and Daryl Morey have done something the rest of the league has been unable to do. They created a team with the self belief of a true champion. The Rockets have complete confidence in the path their on. With recent wins versus both the Cavs and Warriors, the team truly believes they can beat anyone.

Houston is the team everyone will be rooting for come playoff time, with their eye on spicing things up in the post season.

The Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder are all good teams, but no one truly believes that they can contend. The Rockets have obtained the aura of championship potential, something many thought was exclusive to Cleveland and Golden State.

NBA fans have complained of boring seasons with the Finals presumably set. This year will not be the case. So thanks to the Rockets for giving us something new and exciting to look out for.
