Houston Rockets Rumors: Team has expressed interest in George Hill
The Houston Rockets, arguably the hottest team in the Western Conference is looking to add another name before the 2 p.m. CST trade deadline today. Will Daryl Morey make a move? Here’s one name that’s been connected to the team.
As the Houston Rockets are slowly catching up to the Golden State Warriors in the standings, the team is looking to make a move that will beat the defending champs in the race to the #1 seed in the West.
According to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, the Houston Rockets — along with the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in the services of George Hill. But Jones also notes that the Kings don’t want to take on a big contract, which crosses out the possibility for a Ryan Anderson for George Hill trade.
Anderson has one of the worst contracts in the NBA as he is owed $41 million with two years left

on his deal. Anderson is averaging 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 37.9 percent from three-point range. His defense remains a huge liability, which is why the Houston Rockets have been shopping him since last summer since the Carmelo Anthony talks.
Hill would fit in just right here in Mike D’Antoni‘s powerhouse offense as he is shooting 46.9 percent from the field and a career-best 43.5 percent from behind-the-arc. He is also averaging 10.3 points and 2.8 assists per game. He would be a solid backup going down the stretch as he could give Chris Paul a few extra minutes to rest.
Hill is currently on a three-year, $57 million deal that he signed with the Kings just before the start of the season. His average salary is $19 million per year through the 2019-20 season with that final year of the pact having a guarantee of only $1 million.
Anderson would easily be the obvious swap for this contract but as mentioned, they don’t want to take on a heavy contract like Ryno’s. This makes the deal difficult to do because then the Rox will have to start busting up chemistry in order to satisfy the appetite of the Kings.
But if anybody can pull a rabbit out his hat, it’s Morey so we’ll see how this pans out.
Throughout the weeks, Houston Rockets fans have heard the possibility of DeAndre Jordan being traded to the Rockets, but as the deadline nears there have been little to no talk of the trade actually occurring.
