Through all of the bad news of a 4-12 seasonal finish, there’s luckily some good news to dole out about our team.  DeAndre Hopkins has been named to the AP All-Pro first team for the first time in his career.  Here’s why the party is just getting started for the dynamic wide out.

The Houston Texans had a lot of negatives that were hard to overshadow for this season.  If it wasn’t one thing, it was another.  The plethora of injuries, the ridiculously awful play of our offensive as well as the defense taking a step all combined together for a perfect storm of our fate this past season.

One thing’s for sure — the odds are in our favor for the quarterback position to be stable for at least the next decade or so with the Houston Texans being able to land Deshaun Watson in this past season’s draft.  And up until the point he got injured, he had lived up to the hype that befell him.  The offense was clicking on all cylinders and although the team went 3-3 in the stretch that he actually played, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic.

Not only that but DeAndre Hopkins, who recently just received yet another nomination to the Pro Bowl has now been named to the AP All-Pro First Team with the amazing heroics he displayed throughout the season.

FOX 26’s Mark Berman reported on the news:

And here’s what Hopkins had as far as a message to the fans:

Hopkins just signed a five-year, $81 million extension just before the start of the 2017 season so the fact that he said this clearly indicates that it remains a top priority for him.  Some guys take the money and run, disappointing faithful sports fans left and right giving the indication that they’re in this business for mostly the money.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to get paid for what one is worth but it’s important players keep things fan-centric.  As you know, fans are the lifeblood that makes this mammoth of a machine work and that shouldn’t change.  Not now, not ever.

So whether it was one-handed catches, the sick acrobatics or the scruffy match ups that he’d have with our opponents, it goes to show that we’ll likely have a Hall of Famer wide-receiver to couple with quarterback that certainly could on track if he keeps his momentum up.

So just how good he was this season?  Hopkins hauled in 96 balls for 1,378 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2017.  The TD count is a franchise-record and he’s also only the 4th player to do so in a historical sense.  He’s also the third-youngest to make his mark as well.

Because of all mentioned above, I think this is just the beginning and I project that his numbers will be EVEN BETTER than what he had this season with him hooking up with DW4 on the regular.  He’s a guy that has crafted the art of harnessing his talent and unleashing it when it’s the most appropriate.  And you know what?  It reads like sheet music effortlessly off a page.  Watch out for the treble clef!

So you should be proud, I’m proud and all of Texans Nation should be proud!

Go Texans.
