Houston Astros: Three reasons why Evan Gattis isn’t going anywhere
For the Houston Astros, the World Series has only been over for a week and we’re already talking off season moves. No surprise, Evan Gattis comes up as a move target….AGAIN!
Seven days removed from the big game, there is already talk of what the Houston Astros will do in the off season to better improve the team. Once again, Evan Gattis is one of the first names mentioned about players to move or trade.
I’ve seen this movie play out one too many times, and every time a sequel comes out, I come down with Tyler Perry syndrome. I don’t need to see it to know that it will be awful! Especially, when it involves any scenario that sends Evan Gattis away.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s happened again. This time, it comes off of news that was tweeted out by Jesse Sanchez from MLB.com last night:
Naturally, many fans, beat writters, bloggers and hot takers were quick to pounce on all of this. The most troubling response came from Jason Marbach of SB Nation’s Houston Astros blog, “The Crawfish Boxes.” Here’s what he had to say:
What Mr. Marbach and so many others fail to realize is that Evan Gattis was perennial in getting this team into the fall classic in the first place. Despite McCann and Altuve giving insurance runs in Game 7 of the ALCS, Gattis’ towering home run off of C.C. Sabathia WAS the difference maker.
Indeed, you won’t find Evan Gattis himself bragging about it. But that doesn’t mean that folks should just cast him aside after he was apart of the squad that got Houston it’s very first championship.
Here are some other things that should be kept in mind when it comes to the Quintana signing and the future of Evan Gattis on this Houston Astros team.
