Weirdness

Wednesday

The night before, I had a dream that we would win the World Series in Game 7. It was such a weird feeling. Was it going to happen in real life? I thought a championship would happen. But my mind was dealing with other thoughts.

I get on the bus with the volleyball team and we drive for a few hours. I make a few phone calls like I was preparing to say goodbye before fighting a war, which I might not come back from. It sounds off-the-wall, but Game 7 is like a war where a loss would be deflating.

We arrive at our hotel and I get changed in my room with my orange fishing shirt my parents bought me for the playoffs. I was also hoping the Whataburger I had for lunch would help out even though I was 6-2 eating it with the two losses being on the road. So we get on the bus and there are a few Astro fans on the volleyball roster.

They couldn’t use their phones because they had to practice. So I became the information guy.

Wednesday Night

While the volleyball team practices, I watch the game with my Fox Sports App. I see that we score a run. The girls would ask me what’s the score and I say 1-0. They get excited. Then we get a second run in and I signal one of the managers the score and she told the team. They were excited.

The bottom of the first was tough. The bases were loaded with two outs and I’m still surprised that we got out of the inning.

Practice ends as the second inning begins. We get on the bus heading to dinner. Lance McCullers gets a run in and I cheer. The girls want to know what happened. I inform them and they’re happy.

Then, our World Series MVP George Springer hits a home run. I say “g

et out of here” so loud that I nearly scared the driver. Fortunately, nothing major happened to the bus and we got to dinner alright as the girls cheered. At least, those that were Houston Astros fans.

We went to Freebirds and I keep track of the game. Nothing happened as it was still 5-0.
