Scenario #1

We either win the World Series in Los Angeles to end a 55-year drought and be world champions. This also means we will have achieved a goal for the city of Houston that hasn’t won anything in 22 years unless you count the Dynamo in 2007. It also helps that a city recovering from Harvey will have a championship to remember. The feeling will be something like this.

Scenario #2

We lose Game 7 to the Dodgers, who will have won for the first time in 29 seasons. Clearly, they were the best team throughout the season and have demolished the competition in the Diamondbacks and Cubs in nine games. Clayton Kershaw will cement his legacy as a dominant pitcher while the Houston Astros will be remembered as the best team to take the championship winner to a full seven-game series.

Take a look at this clip from Friday Night Lights, the critically-acclaimed TV series, to further illustrate.

Now how do we answer the question here? Well I think we should go through our thought process and figure out the decision. So I’m going to help y’all determine what works out well.

Thoughts

You might have noticed that the two movies I chose were about Texas teams that either had triumph or defeat in each clip. It sounds crazy to think that a Texas team can capture the hearts of America, even if there are those who might joke about Texas being overrated.

But let’s be fair. I just had a realization. We got to a Game 7. How many people thought we would ever get to this point in 2013?

Probably zero unless you worked with the Houston Astros organization.

This is what we hoped for and we finally got it. We have gotten everyone’s attention. Now it’s at a point where the Dodgers are starting to worry about things not going well for them against us. Yes, they won game six just to win game seven.

The odds may favor them for tonight, but should we care. Odds are just predictions. They don’t always determine who contributes on the field. So we know that we can win a Game 7.

The last time baseball has seen two World Series in a row go to Game 7’s were in 2001 and 2002. Both times, a home team (Diamondbacks, Angels) won. But here’s the catch. The last two World Series Game 7’s in 2014 and 2016 were won by the road team (Giants, Cubs).

Something has to give.
