Houston Texans’ Tidbits:

Kevin Johnson The second-year cornerback is expected to miss at least two more games pending evaluation before returning back to the field.  He did not practice this week either.  Johnson suffered his knee injury against the Cincinnati Bengals during Week 2.  He truly has not played well even when healthy but I do give credence to the fact that he has been mostly sidelined since his NFL debut nearly two seasons ago.  Kareem Jackson will get the start but newcomer Johnthan Banks will also get reps at the position as well.

Greg Mancz:  Mancz apparently injured his knee against the Pats in Week 3 and did not practice after seeing some limited action this week in practice but not practicing yesterday.  Even though Mancz is questionable, Jeff Allen was going to start at right guard presumptuously but his help is always needed. Mancz has contributed mightily to the offensive line although his play as of late has been slightly below par.  We’ll see how long he’s out.

And here’s the injury report for the Kansas City Chiefs:

G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Knee

T Eric Fisher, Back

LB Dee Ford, Back

DT Bennie Logan, Knee

C Mitch Morse, Foot

LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, Groin

QB Alex Smith, Ankle

Duvernay-Tardif, Ford and Morse have been ruled OUT. Fisher, Logan, Pierre-Louis and Smith are PROBABLE.

Kansas City Chiefs Tidbits:

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif:  The Chiefs right guard sprained his knee in their Week 4 Monday night match up with the Washington Redskins.  He hasn’t practiced all week and will be out Sunday night.  He has performed decently at his position (PFF Grade: 70.7) but expect Jordan Devey to fill in for him at his spot.  He hasn’t played all that particular well (40.4) but last week was his first appearance for the four-year player, taking 74 snaps at right guard.  We’ll have to see if he’s up to the challenging the Texans’ bone-crunching pass rush.

Dee Ford:  Ford injured his back against the San Diego Chargers a couple of weeks ago and this will be his second-straight game to miss.  The ailing edge rusher has a lackluster PFF grade of 40.4 on the season and will likely be replaced with veteran Frank Zombo, who has 92 snaps at ROLB in the past two weeks after taking only 14 in the first two.  Zombo isn’t much better either with a grade of a 50.2 on the season.

Mitch Morse The center has been out since Week 2 after spraining his foot against the Chargers.  He won’t need surgery but is expected to miss a few weeks, including this one.  Zach Fulton, who has performed decently (67.4 grade) after taking all of the snaps on offense at center is expected to be the starter moving forward until Morse heals.

Next: Why DE Christian Covington should start right away
