Houston Texans’ Tidbits:
Alfred Blue: The versatile running back returned back to practice this week after suffering from a high-ankle sprain during practice at training camp last month. He injured it just before the preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
He was limited in practice this week and Bill O’Brien continues to say he’s doubtful to play. But if he does, the focus of his contributions will be on special teams not as a featured back. We’ll have to see as Blue brings tremendous depth to the table but has yet to appear in the regular season.
Will Fuller: The second-year wide receiver — albeit limited — returned to practice this week, giving some indication that he’ll be returning to the field earlier than expected. He has been ruled out for Sunday but there is some indication that he’ll be returning to the field earlier than later. He has been out since the early weeks of training camp.
And here’s the injury report for the New England Patriots:
WR Danny Amendola, Concussion/Knee
RB Rex Burkhead, Ribs
T Marcus Cannon, Ankle/Concussion
WR Phillip Dorsett, Knee
S Nate Ebner, Shoulder
CB Stephon Gilmore, Groin
TE Rob Gronkowski, Groin
LB Dont’a Hightower, Knee
WR Chris Hogan, Knee
LB Elandon Roberts, Thumb
CB Eric Rowe, Groin
WR Matthew Slater, Hamstring
DT Vincent Valentine, Knee
Burkhead has been ruled OUT. Amendola, Cannon, Dorsett, Ebner, Gilmore, Gronkowski, Hightower, Hogan, Roberts, Rowe and Slater are listed as QUESTIONABLE. Valentine has been moved to the INJURED RESERVE LIST.
New England Patriots Tidbits:
Rob Gronkowski: Don’t let Gronk’s appearance on the injury report fool you, he’ll be out there Sunday as he confirmed himself that he’s good to go. Although it’s not official, I wouldn’t see any reason as to why he wouldn’t play this game as they need every weapon possible to continue their success.
Gronk apparently aggravated his groin a while back but it has not affected his status in games. A 50 percent healthy Rob G. is still 10-times better than what we have at tight end. Let’s just hope he doesn’t wreak too much havoc on us. He currently has recorded eight catches for 149 yards and one touchdown through two games thus far.
Danny Amendola: The multi-faceted threat downfield is also on the injury report. Like Gronkowski, he was limited in practice but is expected to be available to play Sunday. He sustained a concussion in their Week 1 match up with the Kansas City Chiefs and has been out since. He cleared concussion protocol earlier this week and should be active. Amendola has caught six balls for 100 yards with no touchdowns on the season.
