Houston Texans: Three reasons why J.J. Watt is Person of the Year
The ‘Goal-Digger’ Mentality
Imagine playing for the Houston Texans. You just had a terrible game against the Saints (although you’re guaranteed a roster spot). You’re supposed to go home to find you’re going to Dallas because of a once dubbed tropical storm turned hurricane hitting Houston. You’re sitting in your hotel room watching everything unfold and you feel helpless. You want to help, but don’t know how. So what now? What do you do?
Well, you decide to get your phone and record a video starting a foundation.
You then figure you pitch in $100,000 and shoot for a goal of $200,000.

That seems fair for someone that makes at least $10 million playing football to donate $100K. But the goal of $200,000 was easily met. So you up that to $500K. Nailed it! $1 million? Passed! $2 million? Success! $5 million? Conquered! $10 million? We’ve eaten burritos bigger than that. How much longer can we go with this?
So we know that he can set a goal, meet it and aim higher. That’s what’s it’s all about in terms of desiring to be the best. Believe me — Watt talks the talk and walks the walk.
In the next section, we’ll explore how people responds to his caring demeanor.
