Special Teams

Special Teams (3) — K Nick Novak, P Shane Lechler, LS Jon Weeks

This bunch has been doing it together for quite some time for the Houston Texans and although Nick doesn’t have the range like he used to, he should be a lock to make this roster.  Lechler will be the next Hall of Fame punter so there’s no question his contributions are not only appreciated but revered even at age 40.  Weeks is a pro’s pro and continues to get praises for his abilities so he definitely should be right here as a Texan.

CUTS:  Cory Carter

Practice Squad

Practice Squad (10) — LB Eric Lee, PK Ka’imi Fairbairn, WR Dres Anderson, WR/KR Riley McCarron, S Kurtis Drummond, C/G Kyle Fuller, G Josh Walker, LB Ufomba Kamalu, WR Chris Thompson, NT Rickey Hatley

These 10 men were the most difficult to cut as they made strong pushes for the roster candidacy in camp but because of various roster depth, we just didn’t have room for them.  I want to keep these guys around in case of injury as well as develop their skills so that way they contribute in the future.

And there you have it!  These are the 53 men who should be repping this proud franchise come Week 1.  We’ll have to see how Rick Smith and O’Brien feel when the cuts are released but here’s my take on who it should be.

Go Houston Texans.
