As Houston sports fans, we all have good days where our sports teams win. But we also have bad days where our teams don’t win. That’s the fun of being a Houston sports fan. You thrive on winning but also fear losing as well.

The date of Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 might’ve seemed like a normal one in my life. As a person, I didn’t really do much because of the weather (it was cloudy, but sprinkled a bit). But inside me, there was a deep fear I had. A fear that what was happening in Houston with Hurricane Harvey was affecting me and my life.

I knew my parents were out of town and I’m the oldest of three kids. My two younger siblings are in college now while I have a job. But I had this fear that if something bad were to happened to my parents, I would have to be responsible for issues that I have yet to experience.

Whether it was paying mortgages, preparing for further opportunities in employment, trying to be a more sociable person to where I too get married and have kids. I struggled with the fear of losing them in the storm even though I knew they were okay.

Then there was the fear of my sports teams. The Astros were playing the Angels in a series I knew was important. If the Astros won the series, then they would be ever so close to clinching the AL West. Will we beat the Angels who are in the hunt?

The Texans were in New Orleans while monitoring the weather back home. It appears they’ll be in Dallas to play their last preseason game. The question is how will the upcoming year play out. Somebody joked whether they’ll win three games this year. I just hope they either win one game or ten.

Will Tom Savage play well or will DeShaun Watson play bad?
