The Dodgers

Yes! We know how good they are. They seem to be the poster child of the perfect team. Can we blame them? No, because they’re playing well. Does that mean they’ll win it all this year? It’s the same answer for us winning it all. It doesn’t matter. They maybe the best regular season team. But the postseason will decide who’s the best.

So what if the Dodgers will finish with the best record? What if they’ll reach 100 wins? Should we really care? Until recently, we did care. We were caring that we wanted to be their equal. Our dreams were to have a dominating pitcher and a great offense.

We cannot worry about what they do. We shouldn’t worry. Why? Because at the end of the day, no one is taking us seriously as a World Series contender. And we like it that way. We like not being talked as a serious team with struggles. Yes, people have questioned our decisions lately and have expressed concerns. But do they see us as a legitimate contender? Maybe top 5 at best. But certainly not number one.

Look, if we don’t win the World Series this year, there are positives with that. Number one is we got a few more good years and should be a championship team by at least 2020. Number two is that no one would care if we don’t win it all.

More from House of Houston

But between you guys and me, the Dodgers are feeling the pressure. They may not show it, but if they don’t win this year, it’s going to explode in their faces. How does one elite team not win a World Series since 1988? How can you have the resources and still not win?

At the rate the Dodgers are playing, they’re in a position to have some knockdown moments. Teams will beat them to where they’ll respond to adversity before it’s too late.

Remember when we were compared to the 2001 Mariners and 1906 Cubs? Those two teams didn’t win it all. All of the sudden, the Dodgers are playing so well they could end up in the same position.

Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Dodgers World Series?

It seems very unreasonable right now given the status, but it’s the World Series I think we all would want. The Dodgers would be the heavy favorites. But the Houston Astros are a team that can play with anyone. They’re a resilient team. They score runs. If the pitching struggles, they have an offense to help.

Fans would prefer the Yankees, Red Sox, or Indians to represent the AL. But do we care what they think? We shouldn’t. Let everyone pick the Dodgers to win it all. If they do, good for them. But we would much rather be the underdog than the favorite. As good as we are, I’m not sure if we can handle being media darlings like the City of Angels.

But for right now, we cannot worry about the Dodgers. Let them worry about the pressure they’ll encounter. We need to worry about getting healthy by September and get set for a run into October. Odds may favor the Houston Astros clinching the AL West. But we haven’t earned it yet.
