Houston Texans: My dream Super Bowl matchup for the ages
As we get closer to the beginning of another season for the Houston Texans, we sometimes foresee a potential Super Bowl matchup every year.
While the chances of that happening this season are not in our favor, I think we can agree that talking about potential Houston Texans matchups can be worth it.
Last month, I talked about a potential NBA Finals matchup involving the Houston Rockets. I featured teams that were nominees before choosing the one team that would make for the best matchup. Now with the Astros struggling (no panicking people because baseball is like a roller coaster) to get to the World Series hopefully sooner rather than later, it’s time we talk about the Houston Texans and a Super Bowl matchup.
So far, the Houston Texans have experienced highs and lows. On one hand, they had a high with Deshaun Watson’s performance in training camp. On the other hand, Will Fuller is out with a broken collarbone. But that’s ok because those two balance each other out to optimism and hope for the fans.
Each year, you have talks about Super Bowl or Bust before the season starts. While I don’t think this is the year the Houston Texans will get to the Super Bowl, I do feel their time is coming soon. Trust me, when I say it’s coming soon, it’s coming soon. I’m no prophet although I wish I had a sports almanac from the future to help me. You know I also seem to believe that if there are sports gods, then we should have a championship soon, right?
GET BACK ON TRACK MAN!
Sorry! I got lost in the train of thought. But anyways, back to the Houston Texans. While the Super Bowl might not happen immediately, sometimes we like to think about Super Bowl matchups that could involve the Houston Texans. But in order for that to happen, we have to imagine an obstacle that we need to get by.
Pay no attention to the woman because it’s the dude who’s on the Madden Cover that we need to get by. So unless the Madden Curse happens, then the long forgotten member of the Brady Bunch has to be dethroned. Plus, it would be nice to see JJ Watt take down the Gronk Monster.
Anyways, the Houston Texans just beat the Patriots and are representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Only thing we need to ask ourselves is who will rep the NFC in the Super Bowl?
After reviewing, analyzing, and praying (or visualizing for those who aren’t religious), I’ve narrowed down the option to one out of five possible teams. These teams were picked because I personally see legitimate cases for the Super Bowl being the perfect setup for a great game involving the Houston Texans. However, one of these matchups makes more sense to me than everyone else.
I’ll announce the winner in just a bit. But for now, let’s meet the runner-ups (aka the teams that failed to qualify as the NFC).
