Houston Sports: Gauging the roller coaster ride of hometown fans
Where do we stand on the Texans?
Did you hear the news? We just drafted Deshaun Watson. You mean the national-championship winning quarterback from Clemson? The very same we got. Now we’re talking. Houston’s going to the Super Bowl.
Hold your horses folks. Houston’s had eight quarterbacks in the past three seasons. But they went 9-7 every season and made the playoffs twice. That is true, but they haven’t proven to be an elite team. Not even with JJ Watt at the helm on defense.
There’s another problem. We got a quarterback controversy. Who will be starting? Watson or Tom Savage? Wasn’t Savage a backup who’s had a few starts? Yeah, but he has yet to throw a touchdown pass.
So let’s say Watson wins the job. Can we expect him to be the next Dak Prescott? As great as Prescott was, he also had Ezekiel Elliott with him for the Cowboys. Expect Prescott to put up better numbers while Watson might be battling with Savage.
Will the Texans win the Super Bowl anytime soon? Maybe not this year or the next. But soon, we will as soon as we beat the Patriots first. Ah shucks! Those Patriots who rallied from 25 down to win the Super Bowl. They beat us along the way. Can we ever beat them with #12 at quarterback? I don’t know because the older he gets, the better.
Well if there’s anyone who can beat them, it’s us. Or are we the second best option behind the Oakland Raiders?
I don’t know! All I know is I can’t wait for this season to start with Savage or Watson at QB. You said the same thing with he-who-must-not-be-named. Well, this is a different time right now. So let’s get ready.
