Where Do We Stand With the Astros?

Watch this clip and ask yourself if this is how you feel.

I certainly feel the same way. We can finish with the best record in baseball and still end up losing in the playoffs. I think from looking at this clip and at the Twitter comments from Astros fans, we have a tendency to think we know more than the GM.

Listen, the Astros are a young team and have a group of players that can be contributing to one if not multiple titles to Houston right now. We started off 60-29 and that’s a mind-blowing record. Since then, we’re 8-7 to put us at 68-36, which is still at least 17 games ahead of the second-place team. At this rate, even though we cannot overlook the AL West, we’re getting ready for October. The recent losses have hurt us, but we expect games to be as bad. Hopefully, we don’t encounter more of those.

The Dodgers are the best team in baseball now. Do I think they’ll win it all? Absolutely not! Get the Astros healthy and come the World Series, Houston should give LA trouble. Didn’t Sports Illustrated pick the Dodgers to win it all? Okay! How have they done in recent years of selections? That’s a good question.

We have to prepare for October and that’s what is going on. It’s tough to not have George Springer for some time because of his quad. It’s tough to lose Carlos Correa for 6-8 weeks because of a thumb injury. But to be fair, in order for us to finally get what we want, we’re going to ride a few storms.

Not too long ago, I flew on a plane for the first time in three years and I was afraid. I encountered turbulence on my flight but was able to land safely. It almost feels like that way for the Astros. We’re going to ride turbulence and giant waves in storms. But when the trials end, we should be back in full gear.

All the great teams ride through adversity like this. This should help Houston Sports fans in the long run for this season and the years to come.
