The Houston Astros’ Week 16 included a road trip that did not favor them. Have they lost the traveling magic this early in the second half?

They have been labeled the road warriors of MLB. But in Week 16 for the Houston Astros, the road teams that they faced were much more the warriors than they were.

After a .500 home stand against Minnesota and Seattle, the spacemen spent the past nine games out on the road. At first glance, this looked to be a stretch that can get them a nice pocket full of wins.

However, this was not to be. The Houston Astros finished up with a 5-4 record against the likes of the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers. While they were able to take two out of three from the first two team, the Motor City proved to be the biggest problem for them.

Here are some of the other news and highlights from the past week:

Deck the Hall With Bags of Happy!

Legendary first baseman, Jeff Bagwell, was finally inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday. He will join Ivan Rodriguez (aka “Pudge”) and Tim Raines as the three players in this year’s class of inductees.

John Schuerholz and Bud Selig are also apart of the inductee class as former managers and owners.  All five are now forever enshrined in Cooperstown!

On the 1’s, 2’s and 3’s….

More from House of Houston

Dallas Keuchel returned to action on Friday against the Detriot Tigers in the first of a three game set. Unfortunately, his action was short lived, as he was taken out after three innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs off of a three-run home run from Nick Castellanos. Thankfully, that was the one game of the three in the motor city that the Astros would win with a 6-5 final score.

Collin McHugh had a quality second start of the season, giving up only one earned run off of four hits through six innings. Despite this, the Astros lost that game 5-3. Lance McCullers pitched the final game in Detroit, giving up five runs off eight hits and four walks. The Tigers would rout the Astros in that final game, 13-1.

They even brought out Tyler White to pitch the 8th inning, and shifted Evan Gattis from DH to 1st base in that near shutout. That was the biggest indication that the spacemen were prepared to throw that game, for lack of a better phrase.

To make matter worse, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest tweeted early yesterday that reliever, Will Harris, is heading back to the 10-day DL just as fast as he got off of it. Reports are that it is due to right shoulder inflammation. Reymin Guduan was recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Next: Why a trade for Lance Lynn makes sense

Let’s Make a Deal!

The league trade deadline is today at 3 p.m. CDT. Word on the street is, the team is now shifting its focus toward getting bullpen relief rather than a starter. However, Lance Lynn of the St. Louis Cardinals is the name of one starter still being floated around the numerous talks.

The Astros checking in on Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton are among the biggest rumors circulating. It remains to be seen what will happen by this afternoon. Needless to say, after the stumbles this team has had following the All Star Break, something needs to get done, and QUICK!

GO HOUSTON ASTROS!!!!
