What’s Happening Now?

Enter 2017 and look at us now. We have the best record in the American League and the Rangers are sitting at 17 games back. The season is not over as anything can go wrong. But for right now, Houston has a reason to feel proud of knowing their team is better than the Rangers.
I’ll admit I was surprised by the Rangers decision to let go of both Ian Desmond and Mitch Moreland because I felt those guys were big parts of the organization.

Texas had just come off an incredible 2016 season that saw them get the best record in the American League only to be swept in the ALDS by their hated rival Toronto Blue Jays. Keep in mind, I do hope the same thing doesn’t happen to us.

But when the Rangers made the moves, I was stunned because I felt that they still had a team to win it all even if it would’ve dragged me down. Add our off season moves in the process and I would’ve said the Rangers might be down.  But they still own the AL West and we have to beat them to win the division.

Did I think it would get to this point? No! But like most other Houston Astros fan, I’m enjoying this. I like being ahead by Texas a lot. I like beating the Rangers every time we get a chance to. But do y’all know what I enjoy more? I enjoy seeing Rangers fans cry in defeat as their team struggles just to get back into the race.  But why has the rivalry reached a boiling point among the fans? Well, we have to consider these factors.
