Houston Astros: Five reasons Lance Lynn works as a trade option
Plenty of playoff appearances
This specifically is where Lynn has an edge on both Mike Fiers and Charlie Morton. Charlie Morton has a solitary post season start in 2013 against the St. Louis Cardinals where he threw 5.2 innings pitched giving up two earned runs, three hits and four walks. Mike Fiers has thrown one inning giving up one run on one hit and four batters faced in game five of the ALDS in 2015.
To clarify, that’s a combined 6.2 innings pitched with three earned runs, four hits and four walks.
That actually sound similar to the start Lance Lynn had against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2014 NLDS where he threw six innings giving up seven hits, two earned runs and two walks. That was one of seven post season starts he’s made alongside 24 appearances in a post season game. Compared to two combined for Morton and Fiers.
Lynn has won a World Series. He’s pitched in a bountiful amount of post season games. He’s certainly had his bad starts but he’s also had his good ones. While his 4.50 post season ERA isn’t sparkling, he’s thrown 52 innings with 50 strikeouts and has a 5-4 record. He’s pitched in four divisional series, four league championship series and two World Series.
Put that up against a combined 6.2 innings and I’ll take the guy who has been there before.
And lastly…
