Houston Astros: Suggestions for the second half of 2017
3. Everybody Have Fun Tonight!
A report put out by ESPN.com shows that the Houston Astros have only the 13th highest ball park attendance across the league. For a first place team, that isn’t good news at all!
The organization certainly has made some strides on the fan front. They now have the new “Stros Zone Fridays,” where fans can get new swag at select games during that day of the week. I’m partial to the Yuli Gurriel pineapple hair wig they gave away not too long ago!
They’ve also attempted to expand some promotional events outside of the ball park. Autograph signings, All Star voting parties, and away game viewings are just some of those things.

However, at Minute Maid Park, the promotions schedule has, in general, fallen by the wayside. Many of the games have things like “Green tote Sunday” or even a “Socks” giveaway during the Boston Sunday game this past June.
Honestly, H-Town. I think the organization can do a lot better than that in the second half of the season!
With so many good players on this team, there is room for so many more worthwhile promotions that can take place late in the second half. It may seem unconventional for a team to do, but the Astros may want to capitalize on it. Perhaps, one promotion idea I had for the duo of Brian McCann and Evan Gattis? #BearSquared , or Bear to the Second Power, does have a nice promotional ring to it, and is a literal gold mine for the club!
Also, there are a lot of limited budget families and single fans out there that have to pinch every penny. Let’s at least make the experience at Minute Maid Park worth it for them in the second half.
