Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson’s cool and calm demeanor is probably why he’s not more recognized as one of the greatest receivers of all-time. If there was a dictionary with a definition for the expression “Sneaky good,” Johnson’s picture would be next to it.

Johnson is 11th all-time in receiving yards and receptions. More impressively is that all of his numbers came with sub-par to average quarterbacks at the helm. We can only imagine what his numbers would have been like had Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers been throwing to him.

Johnson was soft-spoken but well-beloved as an overall career Texan (His final two years were spent with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans respectively.) He leads the Texans in pretty much every receiving category all-time and is the best offensive player in the franchise’s short history.

More than that though, he was the first Houston Texan to be a franchise player and feel like he was “our guy.”  And the numbers bear out that he will be a Hall of Famer when the time comes.

Besides his great career as a football player, the work he does in the city of Houston Sports is also heart warming. The Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation helps take care of kids coming from single parent homes adding a little more stability and support in their lives.

Most people will remember the viral photo of Andre Johnson having spent $19,000 at a Toys ‘R’ Us, an annual event where he takes the kids for his foundation on a giant shopping spree.

Despite his gentle nature and kindness, I think we all know what our favorite moment of his was. That’s right. The Cortland Finnegan beat-down. Let’s watch again shall we? Man that feels good.
