The Houston Astros completed a 3-game sweep of the Miami Marlins with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday, pushing the team’s overall record to an MLB best, 29-12.
This is the best start in the franchise’s history and time will tell if they’re able to sustain such torrid pace.
No matter what the challenges are, this team continues to find a way to win and that’s something that has all the attributes of a team that could be competing for a World Series championship.
I won’t put the cart before the horse but there’s a lot of promise for this team moving forward.
With the team having completed a quarter of the season, there’s a lot to be proud about, including today’s performance.
What happened?
Altuve’s Hot Bat
Second-baseman Jose Altuve was doing incredible things once again with his bat. Altuve had four hits in five tries Wednesday and all of them were for extra bases. His 4-for-5 performance boosted his batting average to an American League-leading .377.
Altuve continues to impress as the MLB season draws closer to the All-Star break, with game taking place in Miami July 11th.
If Altuve keeps his current performance up, he could be headed back to the Magic City this July.
McCullers’ dominates once again
Starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. struggled early, hitting two batters and walking another on a base-on-balls to load the bases.
McCullers got himself out of that early jam and didn’t allow a single run to score.
After the near disastrous first-inning McCullers was solid.
