Kyle Fuller!

This 6’5,” 307-pound offensive lineman is the last pick taken by the Houston Texans in this draft.

He has been drafted as a center so it makes me wonder what are they going to do with him.

Not to mention that we have two quality centers in last year’s second-rounder in Nick Martin and bruiser Greg Mancz.

He certainly must be versatile although none of his metrics seem to indicate that he is.

But lest we not forget that guys like Shannon Sharpe, Donald Driver and Marques Colston were all 7th rounders so who knows how Fuller will pan out?

I’m certainly wishing him the best of luck in terms of his journey to belong on this team.

He’ll have some work to do but I think he’ll persevere to his utmost.

But you don’t have to take my word for it, here’s what the experts had to say about Fuller:

SportsTalk 790’s Jayson Braddock:

Opinions from WalterFootball.com:

"“Fuller blocked well for Baylor in 2016, but the Bears’ offense never got back to the level of play it had in early 2015. Fuller did a nice job of opening holes for Shock Linwood in 2016. Fuller had a so-so week at the Senior Bowl.”"

Weaknesses from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:

"“Below-average athletic ability. Combination blocks are a struggle. Stays glued to secure block and allows linebacker to cross his face before making contact on the climb. Below-average movement skills hidden by Baylor offense.”"

The most recent film I could recover is from 2015 against Texas Tech when two of college football’s most consistently top offenses were punching it out.

He definitely is a solid blocker and a lot of players were able to find their way to daylight because of Fuller:

This pick screams of one that’s a dark-horse and he’ll likely be moved around a bit on the line if he gets his opportunity to produce.

He was nominated to just about every All-Big 12 first team that you can think of as a center so he does have tremendous value to warrant this pick.

He was considered the anchor to the offensive line in the years he was there and started 39 career games from his sophomore year to senior year (2014-16) for the Bears.

Who knows?

Fuller could be the integral piece in the overhaul that our offensive line needs.

We shall see.

Go Texans.
