Houston Rockets Report: NBA Investigating Patrick Beverley Incident

There were a ton of emotions exchanged among those in attendance at Chesapeake Energy Arena for Game 3.

And the NBA is currently investigating an incident that occurred post game between Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley and another fan on the way out.

As expected, Beverley received a ton of animosity toward his way stemming from an incident years ago between he and Russell Westbrook where he allegedly tripped Westbrook, causing him to sustain injury to his knee.

Oklahoma City fans are — as you know — die-hard and they don’t forget incidents like that.

But one fan seemed to take personal and it got the best of Bev’s emotions.

There were two exchanges — one when Bev fell out-of-bounds during regulation and the second one, of course, after the conclusion of the game.

Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports from a different angle:

The Rockets may have requested this out of precaution and by Beverley himself to see if anything can be done about it.

This also helps to absolve any of the aforementioned parties from liability just in case some strange after-effects came about.

We all know that Beverley doesn’t shy away from his emotions so take a look at the clip of the incident yourself and be the judge.

Quite frankly, I don’t see any reason to warrant discipline to Bev for this.

He clearly is defending himself and unless we can find out what exactly was said within the exchange, this should be a non-issue.

Fans, especially when alcohol is involved, can feel as if they’re invincible and not subject the regulations set forth of the code of conduct set forth by the hosting franchise during games.

If anything, that fan needs to be investigated and if they violated any rules set forth, he should be barred from attending for awhile.

Some take things like this too seriously and I think that’s what’s going in ths particular scenario.

We’ll have to see — Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CDT.

Let’s hope for the best and not a suspension for Bev.
