The wait is over for us Houston Texans fans, as of today, we now know what dates our team will be taking on which opponents for the 2017 season.
Although we’ve known the home and away opponents for quite some time, we finally have the actual dates to coincide with those said match ups.
And to put it frankly, the Houston Texans will be challenged to the tee with this type of schedule that has been released.
No team gets a break in football — any given Sunday, either team facing each other can do what they can elevate themselves to a new level despite what their record reflects.
That will certainly be the case this season as there’s no blow-back in terms of this team having an opportunity to rest on their laurels.
But would you want them to anyway?
Not NOW, not EVER!
Bill O’Brien and the rest of the Texans coaching staff will ensure that these men — whomever the final 53 will be — are prepared to do battle for the upcoming season.
So without further adieu, here’s the Houston Texans 2017 schedule via KTRK-TV’s David Nuno, who was kind enough to tweet this graphic to his followers:
The Texans will open up at home once again — I can start to get used to this — against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, Sep. 10.
That match up will be a fun one to watch as we may see an improved Blake Bortles — likely not — along with a stout defense with their newest specimen to behold in A.J. Bouye, who signed a five-year, $67.5 million contract with $26 million guaranteed.

We’re going to definitely see if Bouye was just a flash in the pan or if he’s the real deal with his newest companion in the secondary in Jalen Ramsey.
I for sure, will look to be in attendance for that game!
In addition, the Texans have four nationally-televised games, all set for prime-time.
They’ll face the Cincinnati Bengals Week 2 on the road for the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football production right off the bat Sep. 14.
This gives them an extremely short week but will be able to rest up for Week 3 against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium Sep. 24.
Although that game isn’t national, I’m positive that they’ll need the rest considering how successful the Pats have been over the years and they’re the…gasp…defending Super Bowl Champion!
The second game with a larger audience is Sunday, Oct. 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’s always a brutal battle when we face K.C. but at least we were able to beat them early last season.
The third game slated is Monday Night Football, Nov. 27 — after Thanksgiving — on the road against the Baltimore Ravens on ESPN.

That game should be an solid one to see as the Ravens usually are in the hunt for something — they may be by then — and the Texans will have been off eight days from the previous week.
The final and most important prime-time match up is against the Pittsburgh Steelers at home on Christmas Day — Monday, Dec. 25.
That game will air on NBC and you best believe that will be one of the more exciting head-to-heads for this season.
This has been the toughest schedule I’ve seen in years but I think they get a slight break when they take on the Cleveland Browns Week 6 and then go on their bye Week 7.
We also may see a slight lull during Week 14 and 15 when they take on the San Francisco 49ers and Jags for the last time of the season.
But you never know — those can be tough games as well.

Despite all of this, I still think our defense will prevail over many games which get us in the win column more often.
I’m calling it right now in April — we’re going 10-6 — with wins over the Jags twice, a split between the Colts, a split between the Titans and wins over the Bengals, Browns, Rams, Ravens, 49ers and Steelers.
As we’ve seen before, 10-6 will likely be enough to win the division which is always the goal along the way to the bigger prize of a Vince Lombardi trophy.
A lot this depends on our quarterback play but we all know that we can still win games no matter who’s under center.
And with that being said, if it’s Tom Savage, he’s good for 10 wins!
We’ll have to see.
Go Texans.
