The Houston Texans have arrived at the day where teams can actually sign players to deals.

Yes, it’s Thursday and since Tuesday franchises have been able to talk to players and their representation to try get the guys they feel can take their teams to a different level.

It’s expected to be a busy day on the free agency front so we’ll likely see in the early goings how this roster will be shaped up next season.

There are quite a few free agents that the Houston Texans have on their roster but the focal point is improving their inadequacies that they had last season, primarily on the offensive end.

The first move was to shift around the duties of the top members of the coaching staff with Bill O’Brien taking over as offensive coordinator along with the head coach title, Romeo Crennel being promoted to assistant head coach to help relieve O’Brien of some his duties.

And in addition, Mike Vrabel has been promoted to defensive coordinator.

This should certainly help but it remains to be seen if O’Brien can handle to extra workload to which I’m sure he can.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have accepted it.

But any way, there’s another guy that’s a free agent that could be on move.

Yes, I’m talking about cornerback A.J. Bouye.

He has been in plethora rumors in regard to his whereabouts over the past few days but they’re finally coming to fruition.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bouye is expected to leave the Houston Texans to seek a new team home:

This isn’t surprising as the Bouye has reportedly has offers up to $12 million per season from six different teams.

I totally understand that Bouye has got to look in the best interests for himself and cash in.

As I’ve said a ton of times, the tenure of an NFL career can be measured in nanoseconds because anything can happen.

The Texans do have bigger fish to fry as Tony Romo is interested in becoming a Texan — technically he already is — and we still have problems at the quarterback position.

Also, investments need to be made on the offensive line so that whomever is under center next year, they have the protection they need.

It’s early and Bouye can still change his mind but I’d expect for him to be leaving at this juncture.

Bouye, 25, had 48 tackles, 16 passes defensed, one pick and 1.0 sack through 15 games (11 starts) in 2016, all career-highs.

Go Texans.
