Houston Texans Free Agency Rumors: Multiple Teams Interested In A.J. Bouye
Tick, tock, tick, tock…the Houston Texans are on the clock…

Yes, we’re past the point of where teams can now talk with players in regard to making deals for the upcoming season.
Right now, at this point, this is just the “talking” phase of the free agency where the actual deals can be signed as early as Thursday, a little under two days away from now.
As I’ve previously mentioned, there are a lot priorities that the Houston Texans have in order to continue to have this team contending for the big prize.
I’m sure Bob McNair and Rick Smith are past the point of being just “competitive” but they want to win NOW.
The positions that this team needs to bolster their status even more are as follows (in terms of priorities): quarterback, offensive line, tight end, secondary and defensive line.
I’m sure all of these needs will be addressed in either free agency or the draft but it remains to be seen what moves are made to improve the shape of this team.
But there’s a figure — who’s a free agent — that has had offers thrown his way as if they were going out of style.
Yes, I’m talking about A.J. Bouye.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, multiple teams are interested in Bouye and could fetch up to $12 million per season in a multi-year deal.
The other teams that are interested?
The Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers.
Wilson also notes that the Texans are among tops as far as those who are seriously looking at signing him to a deal and that there’s a strong chance he still ends up on a AFC South-team.
What an incredible story for a undrafted free agent out of the University of Central Florida some four years ago.
He has proven that he can do the job well and has ballooned his salary from a paltry $1.7 million in 2016 to multi-millions from this point forward.
I don’t know about you but the Texans must re-sign this guy to a deal.

If the numbers can’t work for 2017, hopefully he can be convinced to take a lower number and then stuff the rest of his money on the back-end of his deal.
But that’s in the fairy tale world — we all know that NFL longevity is measured in nanoseconds so it’s best to cash-in before it’s too late.
This is another wait-and-see type situation but I’d imagine it won’t be too long before we know something about where Bouye will be next season.
These teams are foaming at the mouth for him so the Texans will have to step in and commandeer him from this free agency bonanza.
We can only hope.
Bouye, 25, had 48 tackles, 16 passes defensed, one pick and 1.0 sack through 15 games (11 starts) in 2016.
Go Texans.
