You know what I’m talking about Houston Rockets fans, it’s one of Daryl Morey’s favorite times of the year.

You know what I’m talking about Houston Rockets fans, it’s one of Daryl Morey’s favorite times of the year.

Yep, you guessed it, the NBA’s highly-anticipated trade deadline.

The stove is hot as rumors continue to pour in on the skillet so don’t burn your hands on the way out!

We’ve seen notable deals made so far with the trade of Serge Ibaka, DeMarcus Cousins and finally one that benefited our team, Lou Williams.

I would’ve never thought Williams would’ve been available but with the direction the Los Angeles Lakers are going, it makes sense for the Houston Rockets to inquire about his services.

Magic Johnson barely was able to get his chair warm as President of Basketball Operations before Morey starting blowing up Johnson’s phone in his new office.

We ended up trading Corey Brewer and our 2017 first-rounder to the Lakers in exchange for Williams.

This, in my opinion, was a trade that helped both parties as the Lakers are looking toward the future while the Rockets are looking more in the present as they are a shake of a lamb’s tail away from contending in the Association.

That deal helps and it will be exciting to see what he can do while he is immersed in the offense with Patrick Beverley and Eric Gordon.

But there’s more…

ESPN’s Marc Stein has reported that the Rockets are interested in Iman Shumpert:

This is an interesting nugget that has been dropped considering we now have Patrick Beverley, Eric Gordon and Lou Williams in their corner.

I see this move as part of a larger deal that could be instructed that will include the player they really want.

He’s currently in the second year of a four-year, $10 million deal that he signed back in 2015.

But the word “interested” can mean a lot of things in today’s trade market and there are infinite possibilities of where the Rockets will go with this.

You’d have to include — although the Rockets have denied — Patrick Beverley and K.J. McDaniels in this deal to make it work.

But he’d be a terrific offensive component in any offense that he goes to, now we know that he’s being shopped.

But just in case if he were to come here, he’d be a notable add on the defensive front as well.

Although the team defense has improved, we’d have another standout other than Trevor Ariza that help make that mindset even more whole.

I could see Shumpert fit in Mike D’Antoni‘s offense; but ultimately, I don’t see him being in a Rockets uniform.

But Morey continues to surprise me time and again so we’ll have to see.

Shumpert, 26, is averaging 7.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals with a slash line of .425/.403/.773.

Go Rockets.
