As we edge closer to the NFL’s free agency period, the Houston Texans continue to be at the forefront of rumors in regard to what are they going to do with their dire quarterback situation.

As we edge closer to the NFL’s free agency period, the Houston Texans continue to be at the forefront of rumors in regard to what are they going to do with their dire quarterback situation.

We all know that Brock Osweiler underwhelmed us all last season and he isn’t necessarily the answer to flip the our beloved team into a contender.

Think about it — had the quarterback play superior rather than abysmal against the New England Patriots in the divisional round, this TEAM WOULD’VE WON THAT GAME.

Our No. 1 defense was giving the Patriots all they could handle; but ultimately, because of our ineptitude on offense, the team couldn’t put up enough points on the board to win the game.

It’s not all Osweiler’s fault but he definitely should be partly responsible of why we aren’t where we need to be in terms of having a vibrant offense.

Thus indicating that the Texans still need to be out on the hunt for another quarterback.

But there’s one quarterback who has expressed his desire to join this team to help them where they need to be.

Who would that be?

None other than Tony Romo.

Here’s the latest from ESPN’s Ed Werder:

And the Chron’s Jerome Solomon added this important tidbit:

If this is true, the Texans need to pounce on such a deal.

Had he been traded for, any team would’ve been obliged to take on his $24.7 million salary for 2017 — escalating to $25.2 million in 2018 — currently the highest cap hit in the NFL.

This was part of a six-year, $108 million extension he signed back in the spring of 2013.

But now the Texans can negotiate a reasonable contract, especially since the whispers are getting louder in regard to him wanting to be a Texan.

Yes, there are concerns about his back but they can use the draft and free agency to build that offensive line enough to where he’d get the protection he needs.

Quite frankly, we need to worry about winning NOW — there’s no time to waste as some our best players’ prime years — *cough* *cough* J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney — are upon us.

Romo could be that guy that could finally get this young franchise to the promised land.

There was some talk about Watt being traded in order to land Romo but if all is true, he’ll be released and get to pick where he wants to go.

It’s quite seldom that an NFL quarterback gets to do that but Jerry Jones owes him a ton and I feel that he loves him like a son.

Where will Romo go?

Let’s hope he ends up in the Bayou City.

Go Texans.
