The Attendance Problem

We’ve all noticed an alarming trend of empty, bold red seats as the season has worn on.

The Houston Rockets have tumbled to 21st in attendance, averaging 16,528 fans per game, which is 91.7 percent of capacity.

What was the number last season?

They were 15th, averaging 17,981 fans per game at 99.7 percent capacity.

So what happened to the nearly 1,500 fans per game?

There are a lot of factors.

Howard has always been a box office guy and he sells tickets wherever he goes, I personally felt that the team was going to take a hit after his departure but not to this level.

But the Atlanta Hawks, the team he signed with in free agency, has remained virtually flat, still averaging virtually the same amount of fans as the Houston Rockets and still holding the No. 22 spot, ONE BELOW the Rockets.

So that can’t be it…

But, uh eureka, I know what it is!
