Houston Texans’ Tidbits:

John Simon:  Simon has been dealing with a chest injury for quite some time but this past week’s ding to it caused him to exit the game.  He did not return.  He hasn’t practiced all week and has already been ruled OUT for Sunday.  Bill O’Brien has signaled that he’ll be out for awhile.  I’d expect Akeem Dent to start in his place for the time being.

Alfred Blue:  Blue sustained an injury to his calf two weeks ago against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  He hasn’t practiced all week and will be OUT against the Chargers.  Jonathan Grimes is now healthy after suffering from an illness.  He practiced in full this week so he’ll plugged-in to take his spot.

Tyler Ervin: Ervin — the team’s lead kick returner — took a hard hit to the ribs early in the first half of last week’s game against the Oakland Raiders.  He exited the game and did not return.  He hasn’t practiced all week and has already been ruled OUT for Sunday.  Expect Braxton Miller to slide into his spot until Ervin is healthy once again.  Because of the severity of the injury, it may be awhile.

And here’s the injury report for the San Diego Chargers:

S Jahleel Addae, Collarbone

WR Travis Benjamin, Knee

ILB Jatavis Brown, Knee

TE Asante Cleveland, Concussion/Knee

CB Brandon Flowers, Concussion

WR Jeremy Butler, Ankle

ILB Denzel Perryman, Hamstring

OLB Tourek Williams, Hamstring

Brown, Cleveland and Flowers are OUT for Sunday.  Benjamin, Butler and Williams are QUESTIONABLE.  Addae and Perryman are PROBABLE.

San Diego Chargers Tidbits:

Jatavis Brown:  The rookie linebacker has been struggling to return from a knee injury that he sustained late last month.  He hasn’t practiced all week and he has already been ruled OUT for Sunday.  Expect three-year linebacker Korey Toomer to take his spot — he has had 20 tackles, one pass defended and one forced fumble in the two games he has started for Brown so far.

Brandon Flowers:  The veteran cornerback sustained a concussion in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins after his head went into contact with Ryan Tannehill‘s leg.  The Chargers were on bye this past week but Flowers is still under concussion protocol.  He hasn’t passed through it yet with him being ruled OUT, so look for sophomore corner Craig Mager to fill-in for him on the left side.  This marks as Flowers’ 4th concussion over the past three seasons.

The Houston Texans are back at home to take on the Chargers at NRG Stadium this Sunday.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon CST.

The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT) & ESPN Deportes 1180 (KGOL) in Spanish.
