The Houston Texans are in good position to become the third team in NFL history to make it to a Super Bowl played in their home stadium.

Don’t adjust your computer screens, ladies and gentlemen. You’re reading my prediction correctly. The Houston Texans will make it to the Super Bowl this coming February.

And here are the many reasons why:

First, their current record of 6-3. At this point last season, they were 4-5, finishing up at 9-7. They made the playoffs, but were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs, 30-0. This could be add fuel to the fire for a very hungry team, looking to end their postseason drought. Being the Super Bowl-host city should help with that hunger.

Second, the strength of their remaining schedule actually favors them, with the exception of next week in Oakland against the Raiders. Here is how it looks going forward:

Oakland (7-2)
San Diego (4-6)
Green Bay (4-5)
Indianapolis (4-5)
Jacksonville (2-7)
Cincinnati (3-4-1)
Tennessee (5-5)

Third, the 3rd ranked defense. They’ve given up 317 yards per game through the first 10 weeks, which allows them to have the record that they do. As long as they maintain that level, they’ll be in terrific shape in the postseason.

Now, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the Texans. Like any other team in the league, they aren’t without their flaws. They rank 30th in the league on offense. Brock Osweiler has a mere 59.3 completion rate and just 1,818 total yards all season.

There are always silver linings, however. Just this past Sunday, the Texans got their first road win  of the season, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-21. Of their seven remaining games this season, four of them are on the road. They’ll only have to win half of those to keep pace in the AFC South, and keep their good luck streak going at home. Things are certainly looking up for H-Town’s football team.

More from House of Houston

No team in the league has ever won a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Furthermore, The only two that reached in their host years were the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV and the San Francisco 49ers five years later, in Super Bowl XIX.

Could the Houston Texans be only the third team to make it to the world championship in their own stadium? Could they break the proverbial curse to actually bring the franchise their first NFL championship come February?

The Texans are in a very good position to take it all the way! Only time will tell if they actually do.
