Despite all of the challenges the Houston Texans have faced this season whether it be injuries, lack of execution of the game plan or just plain brain farts, this team is still standing at the top of the AFC South with a 4-3 record.

Despite all of the challenges the Houston Texans have faced this season whether it be injuries, lack of execution of the game plan or just plain brain farts, this team is still standing at the top of the AFC South with a 3-1 record.

This team is quite talented from top to bottom and you better believe Bill O’Brien is going to have these guys prepared to reach their full potential.

Hopefully.

There are a lot of new moving parts to this roster that have to integrate with the existing ones so it’s going to take some time to see that cohesiveness that we want.

Until then, let’s sit back, relax and enjoy watching this Texans team do work.

The Texans will have their hands full against a Lions team that has some holes but talent in many areas of their roster.

They’re okay at defending the run (18th at 111.4 yards per game) and they’re worse at holding back the pass (ranked 23rd at 273 YPG).

Although the Houston Texans are ranked 8th in total defense (allowing 320.1 total YPG) and 2nd in pass defense (allowing 184.7 YPG), they’re ranked 29th in rush defense (yielding 135.4 yards YPG).

This could be interesting to see as they get running backs Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington going.

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s game:

Bold Predictions:

1.) Matt Stafford will get terrorized and sacked at least twice.

The Texans have some talent all over their defensive line and we know they’re quite good at the pass rush as I mentioned.

Jadeveon Clowney, Whitney Mercilus, Vince Wilfork and Brian Cushing are all going to be feasting on this opportunity and it’s going to happen.

The Texans are ranked 4th in the league in quarterback hits with 49 on the season.

With the Lions’ offensive line being ranked near the bottom of the pack, according to Football Outsiders, our guys are going to bust through and make plays.

Stafford has been sacked 18 times on the season which is tied for third along with Matt Ryan and Ryan Tannehill.

2.)  Brock Osweiler will have ZERO interceptions today.

That’s going out on a limb making that particular prediction.

I know Brock is hopefully committed to ensure that he makes better decisions and that starts with taking care of the football.

He’ll be cautious but there’s no doubt that he’s going to at least try to go deep to Will Fuller V at least a few times.

I’ll just have to cover my eyes when that happens.

Oh, the humanity!

Osweiler has thrown at least one pick over the past eight weeks for a total of eight on the season.

Those rare exceptions were against the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

But he didn’t have to as they game was already out-of-hand for the Houston Texans.

It’s time for him to right the ship and it can definitely start with this game.

3.)  Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue will combine for 300 rushing yards.

Despite the woes of our offensive line, it’s ranked quite high with their run blocking.

There even seems to be signs of life with Xavier Su’a-Filo having a solid game with the blocking schemes he initiated.

With Miller ailing from a shoulder injury last week, Blue will be called upon to split the carries.

I honestly think that both can be effective with as lackluster as the Lions’ defensive coverage is with the run.

Game Score Prediction: 17-10 in a Texans’ win!

Go Texans.
