Houston Texans’ Tidbits:
Kevin Johnson: Johnson broke his foot in last week’s prevailing contest over the Indianapolis Colts. He is out indefinitely and has already been placed on the injured/reserve list as of yesterday likely meaning he’s finished for the season.
Quintin Demps: Demps injured his calf two weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings and has not practiced this week. Eddie Pleasant and sophomore corner back Corey Moore will likely be handling the strong safety duties for Monday. In another move, the Texans signed safety Don Jones for additional depth on the roster. His last stint was with the Cleveland Browns in the past two seasons.
Brian Peters: The multi-talented member of the Texans injured his quad muscle against the Vikings two weeks ago. Although he’s listed as linebacker, Peters had been handling the kickoffs as of late because of what Bill O’Brien saw in his work ethic at practice. Our defensive line is already quite deep so Peters was the odd man out. Not to mention that he was a kicker in high school and has bounced around the league quite a bit, finding a home with the Texans for now. Nick Novak will resume the kickoff duties until Peters is ready to return.
And here’s the injury report for the Denver Broncos:
S Shiloh Keo, Knee
WR Cody Latimer, Concussion
T Russell Okung, Concussion
WR Emmanuel Sanders, Hip
QB Trevor Siemian, Left Shoulder
S Justin Simmons, Hand
S T.J. Ward, Ankle
OLB DeMarcus Ware, Forearm
CB Kayvon Webster, Hamstring
DE Billy Winn, Low Back
Ware has already been ruled OUT for Monday. Latimer and Okung are listed as QUESTIONABLE. Keo, Sanders, Siemian, Simmons, Ward, Webster and Winn are PROBABLE.

Denver Broncos Tidbits:
DeMarcus Ware: Ware has been out for the past few weeks with a fractured forearm. Although it does seem closer that he’ll be returning, it luckily won’t be against the Texans Monday night. He did have limited participation in practice this week but the Broncos feel that he’s not quite there for a return yet. Although their defensive line is a lot better with one of the league’s most-talented defenders, they’ll be able to handle things just fine without him. Second-year phenom Shane Ray will start in his stead, he has 20 tackles and 4.0 sacks on the season for far.
Russell Okung: The talented left tackle was carted off the field in last week’s road contest against the San Diego Chargers. He was eventually diagnosed with a concussion. He was limited in practice Friday and Saturday but there’s still a possibility he may be ready to go Monday if he passes through the league-mandated concussion protocol. Second-year tackle Ty Sambrailo will be at the ready to start in his spot if needed.
The Texans hit the road to take on the Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CDT.
The game will be televised on ESPN and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT) & ESPN Deportes 1180 (KGOL) in Spanish.
