Over the course of the next few weeks, many different national outlets will release their top 10 organization lists, as well as some top MiLB 100 prospects list.

Today we look at minorleagueball.com’s John Sickels top 20 Astros prospect list.

Though Sickels doesn’t have a name like his counterparts such as Keith Law and the folks at Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus, those that have followed him know and respect his rankings. He’s known to be a bit different and aggressive on guys, so it’ll be interesting to see his thoughts on some high-ceiling Astros prospects.

Sickels adds a paragraph to each player in the top 20. Please click here for his article, as I will only be giving my thoughts on his list.

More from Houston Astros

Sickels is very high on three prospects many haven’t heard of between Franklin Perez, Albert Abreu and Gilberto Celestino. They all are very young and need plenty of polish, but the trio can work their way up with list with strong years.

Of everyone on the list, Tyler White is probably the most likely to start the year with the Astros. Though not a top prospect by any means, all White has done since being drafted is hit, hit, hit. Matt Duffy also has a chance as a utility man.

Teoscar Hernandez is one prospect that’s seen his stock fall over the last 12 months. That’s not necessarily a knock on Hernandez. He’s still got all five tools but needs to work on his strikezone judgement. If he cuts down on strikeouts and puts the bat on the ball a bit more, he can be another top outfield prospect for the Astros or a potential trade candidate.

We’ll have more as the prospect lists come out and we will also continue to trot out our own top prospect lists as well.
