Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks, although they currently sit in the 4th spot in the East, have put out rumblings that they are willing to discuss center Al Horford and point guard Jeff Teague.  While the Hawks aren’t terrible, they do seem to be stuck in the middle, not good enough to win the East but not in the lottery either to rebuild.

  • The Rockets would be foolish to not have some discussions to see the Hawks level of interest in Howard.   Would the Hawks like to bring their hometown boy back?  They would seem to have less risk to losing Howard, if he has interest eventually in returning to Atlanta and finishing out his career there.

The Rockets would likely love to take on both Horford and Teague.  Horford can replace Howard in the middle where Teague would be a sizeable upgrade at the point guard position.  The risk on Horford is that he is a free agent at year end, but then again so is Howard.

This would have the makings of a deal that wouldn’t necessarily pull the plug on the Rockets for this season, which we know owner Les Alexander is not a fan of doing based on past season.

Is Howard ready to go home as many players do at the ends of their careers?  And are the Hawks interested?  And is there a package of players or picks that would interest the Hawks besides Howard?  These are questions to be answered but most assuredly Morey is calling.
