Potential Destinations For Dwight Howard
By Travis Oquin
Sacramento Kings
The Kings are on this list for the same reason as the Bucks. They have underachieved and they, like Milwaukee, struggle to get free agents to sign with them. But somehow they managed to get DeMarcus Cousins to sign an extension and he is the cornerstone of the franchise.
They also managed to retain Rudy Gay this past off-season with a new two-year deal plus a player option deal for significantly less money than his last contract. The feeling in the league, both last year and this year, has been the Kings are on the verge of becoming a playoff team. However, that hasn’t happened yet a they now sit behind the Rockets out of the playoffs.
Since their new owner Vivek Ranadivé took over, it has been one bad decision after another starting with the firing of Coach Michael Malone who clicked with their enigmatic star Cousins.
The Kings reportedly have made Rudy Gay available for trade. Would they consider trading Cousins? If you’re the Rockets and you have a legit center like Howard to offer as a starting point, you have to at least inquire. Daryl Morey has made a living to some extent playing off of other team’s desperation. This time it’s the Rockets who may be somewhat desperate.
However, with Ranadivé running the show, who knows what he may be willing to do.
