Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee is one of the places in the NBA over time that has struggled to get All-Star caliber players to sign with them as it’s just not a destination that many players desire.  So like several other cities in the same boat, they somewhat overpay for guys that are just below All-Star level.

This past offseason they managed to get Greg Monroe, one of the best big men available on the free agent market.  Monroe signed a two-year deal plus a player option.  This year he’s making $16.4 million.  Many experts expected with their young talent of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, and emerging but talented Khris Middleton, they just needed a good big man like Monroe to be very legitimate in the Eastern conference and maybe even a top four team in the East.

It hasn’t worked out like that.  The Bucks, like the Rockets, have massively underachieved and now sit at 21-32, closer to the worst in the East than a playoff spot.  There have been recent reports that everyone but Antetokounmpo is available for trade on the Bucks as they are looking to shake up the mix just like the Rockets are now faced with.

If the Bucks are interested in moving Monroe for Howard in some fashion the Rockets have to listen.  He’s a better big man than they are likely to be able to replace Howard with after this off-season when he opts out and becomes a free agent.
