Houston Texans’ Tidbits:

Jadeveon Clowney:  Clowney sustained an injury to his foot this past Sunday against the Tennessee Titans in the 2nd half.  He didn’t return and has been a walking boot ever since.  After examination, the Texans medical staff found no structural damage to his foot so it’s not bad as originally envisioned.  There’s no word yet on if he’ll be available for the AFC Wild Card Game the Texans will likely host next weekend.  In his stead, expect Mercilus to slide over to the JACK and help Watt out on the line.  Clowney does have 4.5 sacks on the season.

Brian Hoyer:  Hoyer had been practicing with the team but had still not passed through the final stages of the NFL’s concussion protocol.  However, this past Wednesday, he was cleared to play and will be the starter this Sunday.

And here’s the injury report for the Jacksonville Jaguars:

OT Jermey Parnell, Hamstring

LB Hayes Pullard III, Hamstring

WR Allen Robinson, Shoulder

OLB Telvin Smith, Shoulder

RB T.J. Yeldon, Knee

Jones, Smith and Yeldon have already been ruled OUT for Sunday.  Parnell and Pullard are listed as QUESTIONABLE.  Alualu, Clemons, Cyprien, Hurns, Joeckel, McCray, Miller, Odrick and Robinson are PROBABLE.

Jacksonville Jaguars Tidbits:

T.J. YeldonThe Jags have shut Yeldon down for the season after sustaining a knee injury Week 14.  One of the Jags brightest stars, the rookie from Alabama was one of the key contributors that elevated the team’s offense to 10th in the league this season.  Thankfully, the Texans’ defensive line doesn’t have to worry about trying to game plan for such an emerging talent.  Expect Denard Robinson to get the bulk of the carries with Bernard Pierce and Joe Banyard to help out.

Telvin Smith:  Smith has been battling a slight right shoulder separation for about a week causing him to miss practice for the first time in his career.  Smith is truly a workhorse and he’s usually to handful for any opposing offensive line to cover.  The Jags have also decided to shut him down for the season and Jags’ head coach Gus Bradley says that his injury does not need any surgery at this moment.  With him out, this certainly helps lighten the Texans’ workload a bit.  Hayes Pullard is his primary backup but he’s questionable for Sunday so it remains to be seen who will step in Smith’s place if Pullard can’t go.

Jermey Parnell:  Parnell strained his hamstring during last week’s contest against the New Orleans Saints.  The offensive tackle didn’t return and will be a game-decision this Sunday.  He was limited in practice this week so there’s a chance he’ll give it go, if he can’t, Sam Young will be ready to start in his place.
