Houston Texans Vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Week 1 Injury Report
One more day Houston Texans fans!
We’re at the brink of the start of something big for this team this year as this team is poised to capitalize off it’s surprising success that it had last season, just barely missing the playoffs.
None of the experts had expected for us to excel as much as we did and we beat the odds as a Houston team normally does.

For the upcoming season, the Houston Texans are ranked right in the middle of the pack as usual because many experts are suspect of how Brian Hoyer will lead this team.
But let me tell me you, if Hoyer could win multiple games with the Cleveland Browns with the type of dysfunctional atmosphere they have up there, I’m positive he can been just as successful down here with a much more talented staff/roster.
There’s a lot of unknowns for this team but it’s quite certain that this defense and our wide-receiver situation is the best that it has been in years, even with the departure of Andre Johnson.
I’m excited, you should be excited and the Houston Texans will go out and shocked the world once again.
The Houston Texans take on the Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow afternoon in what will likely be tenacious match up on the gridiron.
As both teams take the field, here’s a few injuries that you need to know about:
For the Houston Texans, here are the players that are listed on the injury report:
- S Lonnie Ballentine, Knee
- T Duane Brown, Hand
- OLB Jadeveon Clowney, Knee
- NT Christian Covington, Shoulder
- RB Arian Foster, Groin
- ILB Bernardrick McKinney, Knee
- ILB Mike Mohamed, Calf
- G Xavier Su’a-Filo, Calf
- OLB Carlos Thompson, Concussion
Ballentine, Foster, Mohamed, Su’a-Filo and Thompson have been ruled out for tomorrow. Everybody except Thompson did not practice this week.
Brown, Clowney, Covington and McKinney did practice in full yesterday and are good to go.
Houston Texans’ Tidbits
- Foster’s rehab of his groin has been going quite well and he’s actually ahead of schedule. The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson reports that he may miss two to three games instead of four to five because of this but it’s all dependent on how he continues to respond to the treatments. Alfred Blue will take over the reins but expect the versatile Chris Polk and Jon Grimes to pitch in heavily as well.
- Mohmamed is currently in a walking boot and is expected to miss two to four weeks while he nurses his right calf to a full healing. Akeem Dent, who started seven games last season in place of Mohamed, is expected to start in his stead.
- Su’a-Filo, our 2014 second-round pick, is still reeling from a calf injury that he sustained in mid-camp — he was expected to be back by now but is suffering some setbacks. O’Brien said he hasn’t been able to do that much in practice as a result. It seems as if the timetable for his return still remains unclear. Jeff Adams, who started all of the preseason in his place, will continue to hold it down at left guard likely being the presumptive starter moving forward.

And here’s the injury report for the Kansas City Chiefs:
- G Jeff Allen, Knee

- LB Josh Mauga, Achilles
- DE Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Ankle

Chiefs’ Tidbits
- Fisher’s ankle seems to be holding up well and he should be ready to go tomorrow. He has under-performed at left tackle as of late and the Chiefs have decided to move him to the right side as a result. His counterpart, Donald Stephenson, has done quite well so far on the left side. Fish will be covering J.J. Watt so if his ankle isn’t quite 100 percent, it could be a long day for him.
Luckily, both teams are heading into the season opener relatively healthy.
The Houston Texans take on the Chiefs at NRG Stadium Sunday.
Kick-off is scheduled for noon CST.
The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT).
