Houston Texans Cut 10 Players; Who Will Be The Final 10?
We’re almost there Houston Texans fans.
The NFL season is upon us and preparation are underway to mold this team into a winner.
I’m positive that we’ll shatter any expectations that this team will underachieve and not be competitive, we have too much talent on this roster to do that.

From top to bottom, we have guys that have impressed us throughout the season and although there are some questions at some positions as far as performance on the field (i.e. quarterback, running back, special teams) this team is primed for nice run.
It will be interesting to see how far this team goes without one of their main guns in Arian Foster.
The hardest part of the preseason is at the end when we see some of our favorite players get the axe from the roster.
They’re good but not great enough to make the cut.
It’s a business and these players understand that not everyone will make the final 53-man roster.
Some will have other opportunities to play professionally, some will go into other avenues such as coaching and some may never see the field again with it being their last shot to make it.
Any way, since Monday, the Texans have done a tremendous amount of cutting and here’s the guys that are out so far:
NT Chris Weild
WR Jace Davis
DT Cameron McLeod
OLB Jason Ankrah
WR Alan Bonner
OT Aaron Adams
OT Cody White
OLB Jeff Tarpinian
WR Chandler Worthy
ILB Max Bullough
NT Louis Nix III
DE Brandon Deadrick
RB Kenny Hilliard
OLB Kourtnei Brown
OL Matt Feiler
This trims the roster to 65 players at the moment and the Texans have 10 more to go to pare it down to the final 53-man.
Hilliard, Nwachukwu and Worthy are all prime candidates for the practice squad and that’s where likely they’ll end up but I’m not quite sure where EZ will end up.
EZ had a good camp this year and I hope the Texans reward him with a spot there instead of an all-out cut.
Nix is the most surprising because of his third-round status, but Bill O’Brien continued to speak quite frankly about how Nix’s work ethic was lacking.
Obviously, he hadn’t shown enough to indicate that he’s ready to take over the nose tackle job duties full-time in the future.
This is a black eye for general manager Rick Smith because he’s the one that ultimately made the call.
But questions about his work ethic were being drummed up well before his entrance in the pro leagues and back to his high school days in Jacksonville, Fla.
Who should be the final 10 players cut?
Let’s start with Dan Pettinato, Tony Washington, Joseph Treadwell, Kendall Lamm, Jumal Rolle, Lynden Trail, Carlos Thompson, Fili Moala, Kurtis Drummond and Jeoffrey Pagan.

I’d keep guys like Justin Tuggle and Charles James II who are extremely fierce on the field and gave it everything they had.
Tuggle was everywhere on the field Thursday night against the Cowboys and we need that type of motor on the defense.
He had eight tackles, two assists and 0.5 sacks Thursday.
James has earned a spot on this team — definitely proving that any where you put him, he will emanate the utmost in versatility.
James had five tackles and one assist against the Cowboys.
Christian Covington has had a strong camp and with Nix being cut, that certainly elevates his status on the roster, definitely warranting his retention.
Lonnie Ballentine came on strong toward the end but his injury could land him a spot on the injured reserve in addition to Chad Slade, who has not yet been cut either.

Greg Mancz seemed to take more snaps out of the young guys during the preseason, he’s definitely a keeper on the roster if there’s room.
These are the final 10 who should be cut but a lot can happen depending on which players clear waivers, free agency, etc.
Some of these guys cut will also be on the 10-man practice squad as well.
But one thing’s for sure, Bill O’Brien and his staff will make the headiest decisions to ensure this team continues the success it had from 2014.
We’ll have to see.
Go Texans.
