Trade/Keep: Terrance Jones
Terrence Jones has given the Rockets three solid years at the PF position. He’s never been a headache on either end of the court, but I fear he’s reached the climax of his game. Jones struggles as a defender and rebounder but has improved each year as his weight has increased.
He makes his presence known in plenty regular season games, but tends to disappear in the playoffs. Jones is only taking up $1 million so there is no harm done in keeping him.
The Rockets won’t drop Jones but he could be trade bait. A lot will depend on how the Rockets choose to address both the PG position and the PF position. If they try and land a stud at PF then Jones is likely gone.
With Josh Smith hopefully staying on board and Donatas Motiejunas’ emergence, Jones may be the odd man out this offseason. The Rockets have tons of options at PF, none of them would be necessarily wrong.
