Preston Tucker: HOH’s Week 6 Silver Star Award Winner
After a shaky start to the week, the Houston Astros are back on track to their winning ways.
You know, it’s just incredible to witness what I’m seeing out of this team.
I keep saying this but I’m so glad we’ve finally reached that point where we’re seeing good baseball on a consistent basis.
Instead of being surprised to see a good game out of these guys, it has now become the norm and is expected.
The Astros are transitioning from a wait-and-see approach to more of a win-now type mentality.
And you know what?
That’s perfectly fine with me.
The Astros have taken the “Moneyball” concept and have taken it to a different level but not only keeping the overall payroll low but doing it all by drafting solidly, pulling prospects at the right time and making shrewd deals for players that make sense for the Astros offensive mantra.
What’s the mantra you may ask?
To get on-base.
You can’t score unless you’re on-base so it makes sense right?
This simple approach has allowed the Astros to ascend to heights that haven’t been seen in quite some time.
That’s just fantastic!

But let’s talk about a guy that has crushed it this week for the team.
He has been everything the Astros have needed and exponentially more!
Because of this, excellence deserves to be recognized — today on that type of basis continuously, we will honor an individual player that made the most impact in helping the team, despite whether it resulted in a win or a loss.
We’ve dubbed it House of Houston Silver Star Award…
And this week’s Silver Star Award goes to…
With only one week in the majors after being called up from Triple-A Fresno, he has seamlessly immersed himself into the Astros roster.
He hits, he slides, he plays the field well and goes yard for the Astros, certainly the tools that are needed out him to help with the success of the team.

Tucker was the first prospect that Jeff Luhnow drafted and it already seems that he has already hit a home run on this pick!
The coronation can begin as he is the doubles king of the Astros.
He had two key doubles last night against the Toronto Blue Jays has become the first Astros rook with multiple doubles in consecutive games.
He’s already making his mark just one week in the majors it has been damn exciting to watch him contribute to these Astros wins!
With Tucker’s Super Two status dangling in front of the Astros’ brass heads, he may be an expensive call-up down the road but he’s proven that his move to the majors was warranted.

For this week, Tucker has hit .417 with four doubles, five hits, two ribbies and a 1.283 OPS through four games and 12 at-bats!
This will be the start of something great for the Astros as Tucker may be important fixture out in left field.
We’ll have to see what else he has up his sleeve to help this team win!
Until then, sit back, relax and get your popcorn ready!
