Round 5, 175th overall: WR Keith Mumphery, Michigan State

The receiver turnover continues as the Texans used their fifth-round selection on another wideout, Keith Mumphery of Michigan State.

2014 statistics: 13 games, 26 receptions, 465 yards, 4 touchdowns, 19.0 receiving yards per reception

Per a NFL.com draft profile from Lance Zierlein of SportsTalk790 and NFL.com:

"STRENGTHS Works hard in routes to get defender leaning before break. Gets open and makes himself presentable when play breaks down. Motivated self-starter and team leader. WEAKNESSES Twitch just isn’t there. Saw playing time diminish over last two years. Struggles to get separation down the field and is forced to make contested catches."

Mumphery will not be counted on as a key contributor to the receiving corps if he makes the roster coming out of training camp, as the team now has crowd of wideouts on the roster. But the Michigan State receiver could make his mark on the team by being a physical force with the special teams.

He could also be the type of player that head coach Bill O’Brien may want in his locker room as a positive influence that can also participate on special teams if the need arises.

Overall, this selection just furthers the revamp of the wide receiver core under Bill O’Brien’s watch. Adding Mumphery may even mean the end of Keshawn Martin in a Texans uniform.
