Character Concerns
But there are questions in regard to Swearinger’s character as he was under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for alleged theft of service back in early March.
According to the report, Swearinger had some custom work done on his truck, a late-model Ford F250, at a local shop on the north side but when they couldn’t produce an invoice outlining the service rendered, he drove off without payment. The upgrades cost an estimated $20,000.
TMZ reported the incident first and they have since indicated that Swearinger has settled with the shop, forking over the money that had been owed.

It also didn’t help that he was in the news just a few days later because of a pit bull that he owned bit defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who was visiting Swearinger.
This bite did send him to the hospital for a visit and the injury was deemed as minor.
But it was definitely something Texans fans didn’t want to hear as Clowney continues to battle through a multitude of injuries with most recently having microfracture surgery on his knee back in December.

With Swearinger not necessarily being a lock-down type of back at his position, the Texans brass may just want to wash their hands of him and make a deal.
But it has to be good one, they won’t give him away because he does still have a lot of value in terms of potential.
The Texans had 34 takeaways last season — 1st in the league — and Swearinger was a big part of that.

So although I don’t expect the Texans to get a draft day deal for him, if they can get quality help then I’m all for it. But he should not have fire sale status.
Swearinger, 23, had 74 combined tackles, two interceptions, six passes defended, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one sack in 2014. He has appeared in all 32 games in his career as a Texan and has started 22 of them.
We’ll have to see how this plays out.
Go Texans.
