Mitch Morse played left tackle at Missouri. As a tackle he was a solid collegiate player but with too short of arms for a NFL tackle (32 ¼”), Morse is projected to move to guard or center. Individual footage on Morse is difficult to find but here are some highlights of Missouri against Arkansas, Morse is #65 at left tackle.
The Texans should be looking for a guy like Morse that was a good tackle, but will be much better on the inside as it is often a “value” pick. Morse is very intelligent and I would start him out at center and go from there.
As a player Morse is powerful and showed his strength with 36 reps on the bench at the combine. Morse is solid in both run blocking and pass protection and moves well at his size and has shown the ability to pull as well as get to the second level and make a block.
After releasing Chris Myers, the Texans are set to move Ben Jones back to center. However, Jones was hardly solid as a starting guard last year and the Texans have limited depth.
