3. James Harden And His Hot MVP Start

We know how last season ended. That’s enough about that.

James Harden came into this season on a mission with a purpose. He and Dwight Howard knew they didn’t have any excuses this year. They lost Chandler Parsons and didn’t get Chris Bosh but that wasn’t going to stop them from their pursuit for a NBA championship title.

  • Harden has been incredible this season leading the Rockets to a 22-9 record. His 27.7 points per game is tops in the league by a wide margin (LeBron James sits in 2nd at 25.2). He is also dishing out 6.9 assists per game and collecting 6.1 rebounds per game. Incredible numbers.

The bearded one has been on a tear the last 10 games, averaging close to 32 points and 8 assists per game in that span.

Harden is easily at the top of the MVP discussion right now and he’s come up huge for the Rockets when the offense goes into a funk.

The additions of Josh Smith and Corey Brewer should also help limit the load a bit defensively, something Harden has significantly improved on this season.

The NBA season is long and a lot can happen from today until mid-April, but Harden has the Rockets on the right track.

An NBA Finals appearance isn’t out of the question for this squad and Houston has no one to thank more for that than James Harden.
