Houston Texans Fantasy Football Preview: Week 6
By Yoni Pollak
The Houston Texans lost last week’s game 20-17. Arian Foster dominated the fantasy scene, but no other Texans were too sharp.
With the Texans playing at home against the Colts this Thursday night, fantasy owners of Texans and Colts players will need all their questions answered quickly.
*Note: Thoughts are based on a 12-team, PPR league
Quarterbacks
Ryan Fitzpatrick – He’s been struggling as of late, but with the Colts in town it could mean a high scoring affair. Still wouldn’t start unless desperate in a 2-QB league.
Andrew Luck – Luck has been the #1 QB in the league through 5 games, though Luck threw just 1 TD and 2 picks at home against the Ravens last week. The Texans defense at home is tough to play against, but Luck is still one of the best in the league. A must start in all leagues.
Prediction:
RF – 250 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
AL – 350 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Running Backs
Arian Foster – Foster was that RB1 against the Cowboys that many expected (if healthy) this season. It’s a short turnaround, so he may lose a few carries to Alfred Blue in an effort to keep Foster fresh, but the Colts allow over 101 yards rushing per game. He’ll get his. RB1.
Ahmad Bradshaw – He has 10 more rushing yards than his teammate in 21 less carries. He’s the Colts RB you want to start, especially in PPR leagues where he adds value with his 18 receptions and 4 receiving TDs. Low-end RB1.
Trent Richardson – Texans run defense has been pretty bad this season, so no reason to expect a RB to struggle. However, TRich hasn’t done much to excite Colts fans since his arrival. I wouldn’t start him, but I suppose you could do worse at the flex.
Prediction:
AF – 21 car, 105 yards, 1 TD
AB – 10 car, 50 yards, 1 TD, 4 rec, 50 yards
TR – 10 car, 30 yards
Wide Receivers
Andre Johnson – He’s the dependable receiver for Fitzpatrick, but with the Texans not throwing deep, it’s hard to start him as much more than a WR3.
DeAndre Hopkins – If the Texans were to go deep on the Colts defense, Hopkins is likely the guy to get 1-on-1 coverage. He’s also been the TD threat for the Texans. Solid WR3.
Reggie Wayne – Like Johnson, Wayne is past his prime but is still a very productive receiver. Wayne has already pulled in 30 receptions and could be headed towards a 100 receptions season. WR2 this week.
T.Y. Hilton – Hilton is a vertical threat against a Texans secondary that lacks plus speed. He’s always a threat for a 50-yard catch, but the Texans have done a good job of not allowing any big plays in the secondary. WR3.
Prediction:
AJ – 5 catches, 75 yards
DH – 5 catches, 105 yards, 1 TD
RW – 8 catches, 90 yards, 1 TD
TYH – 5 catches, 80 yards
Tight End
Garrett Graham/C.J. Fiedorowicz – Both TE’s have been severely underutilized. Many better options available including the two right below…
Coby Fleener/Dwayne Allen – The combination of these two is what the Texans fan were hoping Graham and CJF would be. Allen is tied for the team lead in receiving TDs with four. He’s a low-end TE1. Fleener is a TE2.
Prediction:
GG – 2 catches, 25 yards
CJF – 2 catches, 15 yards
CF – 3 catches, 35 yards
DA – 4 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD

Kickers
Randy Bullock – Just 1 FG and 2 XP last week. Should have similar production against the Colts.
Adam Vinatieri – He’s hit 10 FG through 5 games this season, though none from beyond 50. Start him.
Defense/Special Teams
Houston – The Texans did a pretty good job holding a dominant Cowboys offense to just 2 TDs. They do a nice job of forcing turnovers through struggle to get to the QB at times. At home, I wouldn’t be afraid of starting them.
Indianapolis – 12 sacks, 6 INT, and 4 fumbles recovered. Playing on the road on TNF is always tough. However, Fitzpatrick is turnover prone. Could do better, but could also do much worse.
Good luck with your fantasy teams this week!
